10 Ways To Speed Up Your Hair Growth

Sitting back and waiting for your hair to grow? There are things you can do to stimulate hair growth Naturally & by using the right products.

Your body has 5 million hair follicles, which sounds like a lot, but only about 100,000 of those are on your scalp. While your genetics influence how much your hair tends to grow—on average it’s about half an inch each month—so does your lifestyle, and this is something you can actually control!

To encourage your thinning hair to grow a little bit faster, try taking things a little more slowly. Mindfully approaching how you go about your day can do wonders for your stress levels, which ultimately affects the health of your hair. So what does mindfulness look like? For starters, taking your foot off the pedal, stopping to smell the roses and sometimes quite literally remembering to breathe. Here are a few of our favourite ways to slow down to support our healthiest hair growth possible.

1. Prioritise Sleep

Sleep has a hugely positive effect on your body. It’s when your muscles repair themselves, your brain gets ready for the new day, and the protein in your body gets synthesised to grow your hair. This protein synthesis is crucial to healthy hair growth, and a good night of sleep—every night—is what maintains that process. It’s also when you sleep that your hormones get to work in promoting proper growth of your hair (as well as your fingernails!). Plus, nothing beats waking up relaxed and feeling refreshed—and getting your seven to eight hours of shut-eye each night is where it all begins.

2. Adopt a Meditation Practice

Meditative practices are a great way to slow down. They help with focusing on yourself and resetting your emotions in favour of managing stress. Stress is a pesky deterrent to hair health, so any way you can decrease your levels of stress is a positive one. By taking part in meditative practices for just a few minutes each day, you’re giving your mind and body a chance to find its center again, which can promote healthier hair. Meditation can also help hair growth by improving blood flow in our head to nourish our hair cells. One study showed that meditating for 30 minutes for five days significantly increased blood flow in the left frontal lobes. 3. Apply Hair Oils Regularly

The majority of hair-growth oils are loaded with hydrating ingredients that help create a healthy foundation for your scalp and hair (aka the key to getting longer, thicker hair over time).

One of the most popular hair-growth oils? Castor oil, which is loaded with vitamin E, fatty acids, and minerals.“Castor oil is not only anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial & is Super for eyebrows & Eye lashes but for your hair take a look at Argan oil, it is an age-old beauty secret that has many uses, helping to hydrate and soften your hair. With its high content of antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and vitamin E, the benefits of Argan oil naturally help increase hair's elasticity and consistently restore shine to dull, lifeless hair. 4. Become One with Nature (VITAMIN D)

Getting outside to enjoy the sunshine is good for the soul. Plus, it’s good for your hair. Getting a big dose of vitamin D from the sun can actually help your hair growth because vitamin D is responsible for creating new hair follicles. This doesn’t mean you need to go lie in the sun day in and day out. Go for a short walk each day, even around the block, to get a bit of sun. While it’s important to also protect your skin with sunblock, you want to be sure you’re allowing some of that sun to reach you—and short stints in the sun are sufficient.

5. Consider Hair-Growth Vitamins

If you follow a somewhat balanced diet, your body is typically already loaded with the hair-strengthening ingredients you’ll find in supplements (think: biotin, folic acid, vitamins D, A, C, and E), and doubling (or tripling!) your dose won’t actually make a difference.Your body only keeps what it needs and then it gets rid of the rest, That said, if you don’t eat balanced meals or you’re in an intense period of stress or trauma, you might not be getting the proper amount of nutrients you need to grow healthy, long hair. If that’s the case, your body will shut down your hair growth first and redirect nutrients and energy to the organs that need it most, which can leave you vitamin deficient. If you think you might be vitamin deficient, you could be a solid candidate for supplements, You’ll want to make sure you’re taking the right amount (and type) of vitamins and that they won’t interact with any medications you’re currently taking. 6. Shampoo less to lock in moisture

Here’s why: The purpose of shampoo is to wash away dirt and product buildup, but most shampoos are filled with harsh soaps called sulfates, which strip away natural oils you need for long, healthy hair. When you do need to cleanse your hair, make sure to choose a sulfate-free shampoo.

We are in lOVE with OLAPLEX A highly-nourishing and reparative shampoo.

The Best thing about this shampoo you only need a pea size & only lather up at your scalp, letting the suds slide down the rest of the hair as the water rinses the formula away. The key to washing your hair is conditioner, Load up on masks, treatments etc, if you focus too much on shampooing your washing away the oils needed for hair growth & this is the worst thing you can do for your hair—especially when you’re trying to grow it long, Please, load up on the conditioning hair masks to prevent those split ends. Check out our Our bond building best-sellers all in one kit.

Bond Maintenance starts with our hero No.3. Use this at-home treatment to reduce breakage and visibly strengthen your hair. Maintain that strength and protection with No.4 Shampoo and No.5 Conditioner.

7. Make Bath Time a Treat

Not only is bath time a great time to relax and recharge, but it can also promote hair growth if you take the time to show your hair and scalp some love. In fact, scalp massages have been known to make a difference in hair growth. One study suggested that scalp massages can help dilate the blood vessels under the skin, leading to fuller, thicker hair. The study also showed that scalp massages could make your strands stronger, which could mean less breakage.

Try using pressure with your fingertips on your hair and scalp for just a few minutes each day while you’re in the tub. You can use a hair serum or essential oils on wet hair for a more aromatherapy experience as well—and of course a deep-conditioning mask focused on mid-lengths and ends adds a pampering step. A perfect product for this is OLAPLEX No.0 Intensive Bond Building Treatment The No.0 acts as an intensive repair booster that absorbs deeply into the hair, working in tandem with our best-selling No.3 to receive your most intense repair.

A small study found that peppermint oil could also promote stronger hair, plus it’ll make you smell delicious while boosting hair health. Healthier hair tends to grow better, and if nothing else, a scalp massage will feel great.

8. Wake Up Earlier

You know how frustrating it can be to wake up late and be rushing around in the morning to get to work. If this is your norm, try setting your alarm a few minutes earlier so you can start your day off more peacefully. (Easier said than done, we know.) If you have a more calm morning, the rest of your day is more likely to follow suit—and that means less stress. You know what stress does to your hair, so wherever you can cut back on it, you should.

9. Just Breathe

It sounds simple, but it’s true. When you take care of your whole body, your hair tends to fall in tow. Deep breaths allow air to fill your body, which can be extremely calming on your nerves when things feel out of control. So breathe, relax, show yourself grace, and be kind to yourself. Some research has linked good hair to happiness, meaning good hair days tend to make you happier and happier days make you content and less stressed. While this doesn’t necessarily mean your hair is growing faster on days you’re happy, it does mean that when you take a moment to be content with life and shake off the stress, you’re giving your body a boost of positivity. The positivity can eradicate some lingering stress, which means your hair is getting the love it needs from you.

10. Cut back on heat tools to prevent damage

Pls put the hot tools down for a hot sec, k? Hair straighteners, curling wands, chemical relaxers, or any other treatment or style that causes a lot of damage will not help your long-hair cause. The healthier your hair is, the longer it will grow, and overuse of these tools is not conducive to long hair. And if cutting down your heat-tool use isn’t a viable option, make sure you’re using a heat protectant every time you style. We can recommend a few products that we have tried tested and love. They range from $35- $50 money you wont regret spending on your hair.
